Welcoming Cecilia Martinez, Victoria Foundation’s New Communications Specialist


Victoria Foundation is thrilled to announce the newest addition to the team, Cecilia Martinez, who joins us as our new Communications Specialist. In her role, Cecilia will be instrumental in shaping communications strategies that align with the Foundation's mission and framework to grow self-determination and power in communities of color across Newark.

"Expanding our communications capacity is an essential aspect of Victoria Foundation's commitment to lift up community voices and support local advocacy efforts," said Craig Drinkard, Executive Officer of Victoria Foundation. "Cecilia brings both sharp communications acumen and a deep love and knowledge of Newark, which infuses our work with even greater authenticity and impact."

Cecilia's extensive expertise and experience in the field spans more than 15 years. She has held key positions at renowned institutions such as Saint Peter's University and Columbia University Medical Center, and her most recent role at the National Kidney Foundation.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Cecilia is also an award-winning self-taught artist. Her art addresses critical issues affecting underserved and marginalized communities, with a particular focus on racism and poverty. She has exhibited her work in galleries across the country and has received recognition from esteemed organizations.

Cecilia has a deep connection to the Newark community and has actively contributed to it. She has served as an art specialist with the YMCA of Newark and Vicinity, providing support to the Newark Public Schools' Summer Plus Program. She has also been an active participant in exhibitions supported by Newark Arts, showcasing her work in prominent events.

Cecilia's educational background includes graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English/Journalism from New Jersey City University, where she received several prestigious honors. She also holds a Certification in Digital Media Arts from Hudson County Community College.
